Kindergarten Preparation
Do you have a rising Kindergartener? Check here for monthly tips and important dates.
“Big School” can be an exciting, but scary concept. There are lots of skills besides numbers, colors, and writing your name that are important for a successful transition to kindergarten. Social skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication, such as speech, gesture, facial expression and body language are crucial to existing harmoniously with others in a group. Having empathy and being able to self-regulate when strong emotions are present are also important skills.
These skills can be learned through regular social interaction, coaching from an adult as well as positive peer modeling. Helping your child gain confidence in these areas will only make for a better transition. Check here for monthly tips on preparing your child for kindergarten.
